Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Amare Stoudemire led all scorers with 31 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, as the New York Knicks defeated the Toronto Raptors, 116-99, at the Air Canada Centre.

Wilson Chandler netted 21 points and Raymond Felton contributed 18 points and eight assists for the Knicks, who have won seven straight on the road for the first time since December 27, 1994 - January 22, 1995. Its very comforting to know you can throw it over to him and hes going to get a wideopen jump shot or hes going to dunk it or go to the foul line. Hes just been playing terrific. Jerryd Bayless scored 23 points off the bench to lead Toronto, which had won six of eight coming into the contest. Amir Johnson went for 22 points and career-high 16 rebounds in defeat. We had a difficult time guarding their guys, Raptors head coach Jay Triano said. Its a tough job. You have to get into help on Stoudemire rolling and you also have to make sure you close out on the three-point shooters. We didnt do a very good job of running them off the three-point line. New York jumped out to a 33-18 lead after the opening quarter, and Toney Douglas finger-roll near the midway point of the second kept the Knicks up by double-digits, 42-30. The Raptors were down 57-41 with 1:38 left in the half, but closed with a 9-3 run to get within 60-50 at the break. Stoudemires dunk approaching the middle of the third put the Knicks ahead by 16 at 78-62, but Bayless hit a three to finish a 9-0 run that got the Raptors within 78-71 with 2:52 left in the quarter. New York led, 82-75, at the end of three. Stoudemire hit a pair of jumpers to start a 9-0 burst early in the fourth, and after Shawne Williams finished it with a tip-in, the visitors were up 91-77. After Bayless hit from behind the arc to get Toronto within single-digits, 97-88, with 6:08 remaining, Williams answered with a three and Felton added a floater, and the Knicks cruised the rest of the way. GAME NOTES:Despite the loss, the Raptors have still won 11 of their last 14 against New York in Toronto...Williams ended with 14 points off the bench for the Knicks, who shot 48.9 percent from the field and made 12 from three-point range...Andrea Bargnani ended with 16 points for Toronto, which made 46 percent of its shots.

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Mark Reynolds celebrated his 27th birthday with a three-run homer but left the game with a head injury, while Joe Saunders dazzled on the mound with a five-hit complete game, as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Washington Nationals, 6-1, in the resumption of a four-game series at Chase Field. Reynolds was hit directly in the head with a fastball in the sixth inning and left the game, but was later seen in the dugout and did not appear to be seriously injured. I tried to get out of the way and they got me, said Reynolds of his reaction to getting hit. My first instinct was to get up and run to first base but the trainers made me stay down and made sure I was alright. I told them I was good to stay in the game. I just got lucky. Saunders (1-0) allowed one run and struck out five with two walks for Arizona, which bounced back from a 3-1 setback in Mondays series opener and in the process halted a five-game home skid. Ryan Zimmerman homered for the Nationals, who have dropped two of three following a three-game win streak. Scott Olsen made his second start since a two-month stint on the disabled list and suffered the loss. Olsen (3-3), who had been out of action since late May with a shoulder injury, yielded five runs on seven hits with three strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings. I felt when I made good pitches they hit them, when I made bad pitches they hit them, Olsen said about his outing. They were just all over everything tonight. Saunders pitched a hell of a game tonight and you just have to tip your cap to him. Earlier Tuesday, the Nationals placed slugger Adam Dunn on waivers. If Dunn clears, he would be elligible to be traded.
Derek Stepan Jersey The Nationals took an early lead on Zimmermans two-out solo home run in the first inning, but the Diamondbacks used a pair of homers several innings later to move ahead. After Stephen Drews sixth homer of the season led off the third stanza, the DBacks took the lead for good in the fourth. Olsen got the first two outs, but Adam LaRoche singled to right and Miguel Montero drew a walk. Reynolds stepped to the plate and belted a fastball over the wall in center field for a 4-1 Arizona advantage. Saunders was perfect in both the fifth and the sixth before the DBacks added an insurance run in home portion of the sixth via Monteros sacrifice fly. After the run-scoring fly ball by Montero, Nationals reliever Collin Balester entered the game and faced Reynolds. With a 1-1 count, Balester fired a 95- m.p.h. fastball directly at Reynolds head. Reynolds was motionless on the ground in the batters box for a few moments, but eventually walked to the dugout under his own power. Augie Ojeda replaced Reynolds. Saunders induced the third Washington double play of the game in the top of the seventh, and the Arizona offense continued to produce in the bottom of the frame. Kelly Johnsons RBI single capped the scoring. GAME NOTES:Olsen fell to 0-3 in five career starts against the DBacks...Saunders made his home debut after he was traded to Arizona from the Angels in late July...For his career, Saunders improved to 31-4 when he pitches at least seven innings of a start...This marked the fifth complete game in Saunders career and his third this season.
